The Distribution of Dark Matter in Spirals
نویسنده
چکیده
In the past years a wealth of observations allowed to unravel the structural properties of the Dark Matter Halos around spirals. First, their rotation curves follow an Universal profile (URC) that can be described in terms of an exponential thin stellar disk and a dark halo with a constant density core, whose relative importance increases with galaxy luminosity. Careful studies of individual objects, from dwarfs to giants, reveal that dark halos have a core, whose size r0 correlates with the central density ρ0. These properties are in serious discrepancy with the cuspy density distribution predicted by N-body simulations in collisionless ΛCDM Cosmology.

The Balance of Dark and Luminous Mass in Rotating Galaxies
The rotation curves of spiral galaxies become approximately flat at the largest radii observed [1, 2]. This is one of the strongest indications of the need for dynamically dominant dark matter in the universe. While the need for dark matter at large radii is clear, its quantity and distribution is less so. Cogent but contradictory arguments can be made about the relative importance of dark and ...
متن کاملOn Singular Dark Matter Halos
The distribution of dark matter around galactic or cluster halos has usually been assumed to be approximately isothermal with a non-zero core radius, which is expected to be of the order of the size of the visible matter distribution. Recently, the possibility has been raised that dark matter halos might be singular in the sense that the dark matter density could increase monotonically with rad...
متن کاملDark Halos around Spirals; no role for collisionless Cold Dark Matter particles
From the analysis of high–quality optical rotation curves of 9 low–luminosity disk galaxies, we find that the properties of the dark halos around these objects are inconsistent with the halo density profile of the halos emerging in high resolution Cold Dark Matter N-body simulations. Dark halos around galaxies are almost constant density spheres, very different from the characteristic CDM ρ(r) ...
متن کاملSinglet scalar dark matter in noncommutative space
In this paper, we examine the singlet scalar dark matter annihilation to becoming the Standard Model particles in the non-commutative space. In the recent decades, many candidates of dark matter have been offered, but our information about the nature of dark matter is still limited. There are such particle candidates as scalar matetr, fermion, boson, gauge boson, etc.; however, they have nei...
متن کاملThe Distribution of Dark Matter in Galaxies: the Core Radius Issue
I review the up-to-date status on the properties of the Dark Matter density distribution around Galaxies. The rotation curves of spirals all conform to a same Universal profile which can be uniquely decomposed as the sum of an exponential thin stellar disk and a dark halo with a flat density core. From dwarfs to giants galaxies, the halos embedding the stellar component feature a constant densi...
